The Destiny 2 Content Vault will Open in November

Destiny 2

The Destiny 2 site has been updated with a lengthy note about the forthcoming “content vault” that was announced earlier this month. According to the dev team, “D2 is too large to efficiently update and maintain” and, as a result, “more bugs and less innovation” take place. As a result, older, less actively played content will be cycled out of the live game and placed into the “Destiny Content Vault”.

The first archived content will take place in November at the launch of Beyond Light. The following content will be placed in the vault along with all of the attendant content that each represents.

  • All Destiny 1 content
  • Mars
  • Io
  • Titan
  • Mercury
  • Leviathan

Players worrying that they’ll never see archived content make a return can rest easy. Beginning in D2 Year 4, developers will be “unvaulting” content for a limited time. In D2 Year 4, players will see the Cosmodrome return as well as its three strikes and the Vault of Glass raid.

In addition, the launch of the Beyond Light will see several new areas added to compensate for those that are vaulted. These include:

  • Europa (new)
  • Cosmodrome (unvaulted)
  • Moon
  • Tangled Shore
  • Dreaming City
  • European Dead Zone
  • Neesus

Over the next three years, D2 players will enjoy three expansions: Beyond Light in 2020, The Witch Queen in 2021, and Lightfall in 2022.
