Nintendo has announced that the final free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now live. The update was released a day ahead of schedule, much to the delight of the New Horizons community.

Players will find a number of quality of life improvements alongside these features in the free update:

  • a new villager: Brewster the pigeon who owns a coffee shop called The Roost
  • the return of Kapp’n to the island pier and who can take you on boat tours to mysterious islands replete with new flora, a potentially different season, or time of day
  • Harv and Harriet are working on Harv’s island to turn it into a plaza and where players can assist in the effort by contributing bells. Harv’s island will include shops, returning characters, and the ability to get some customized furniture
  • using the tape deck in the plaza allows for an exercise routine
  • Island Ordinances are returning
  • camera functions and villager interactions are expanding
  • new items and customizations

This update also includes the paid Happy Home Paradise DLC. New content allows players to build dream vacation homes for themselves and other types of buildings for villagers. The DLC will set players back a hefty $25 if purchased separately or it is part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
