Last night’s The Game Awards 2021 was a star-studded event that gave us a look back at the year that was and at some of the finest games and game makers of the year. In addition, developers and publishers offered fans a peek into the future with big announcements of upcoming games and trailers to whet the appetite. Here’s what was showcased during TGA 2021.
Forspoken Release Date
During TGA 2021, Square Enix revealed the release date for its RPG Forspoken. PC, and PlayStation 5 players will be able to get their hands on the game beginning May 24, 2022. The announcement came by way of a new trailer that introduces viewers to Tanta Prav.
The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss took time out from their schedules to come to TGA to announce The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience. The best part is that it’s already available and it’s free for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S owners.
Alan Wake 2 Announced
We’re pretty sure that no one was expecting this one and not much was said about it other than the game is moving to the survival/horror genre according to Creative Director Sam Lake. The game is targeting a 2023 release date.
Slitterhead Announced
Silent Hill creators Bokeh Game Studio and Keiichiro Toyama announced Slitterhead, an insanely creepy title. This is not a trailer for the faint of heart.
New Elden Ring Trailer Shines
Elden Ring is headed for a February release date and as TGA 2021’s Most Anticipated game, it’s a sure bet that the world is anxious to soak up every little detail about it. Developers are happy to oblige and sent out a beautiful new trailer.
Rocksteady Showcases Kill the Justice League, a Suicide Squad Game
The world has never gotten a proper look at Kill the Justice League, a Suicide Squad game — till last night that is. Rocksteady pushed out a fresh look at the forthcoming game that is targeting a 2022 release date.
Wonder Woman Announced
Monolith Productions provided few details but thrilled viewers with the announcement that it is working on a Wonder Woman game. We know that it will be an open-world third-person game that will utilize a similar nemesis system that Monolith created for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Beyond that, we know little including a release window or platforms. Still though….Wonder Woman!
Final Fantasy VII Remake is Headed to PC
Final Fantasy VII Remake launched as a PlayStation exclusive much to the sadness of PC players everywhere. However, the wait is almost over as it was revealed that it will be making its PC debut via Epic Games Store on December 16th and will feature the Intergrade version that up to now has only been available to PS5 players.
Quantic Dream IS Making Star Wars Eclipse
Rumors have been swirling for months that Quantic Dream is working on a Star Wars title. That rumor has now been confirmed thanks to last night’s reveal of Star Wars Eclipse. The game is set during the High Republic era and will feature a “branching action-adventure game” and will utilize multiple playable characters. There is no word on a release date or platforms.
Get a Peek at the Halo Live-Action Series
Paramount Plus has been hard at work on a Halo live-action series and last night the world got its first proper look at it. According to what we know, it should be out in early 2022.
Be Sus in Among Us VR
Schell Games has announced that Among Us is heading to VR including Meta Quest, PlayStation VR, and Steam VR. This is a huge announcement as the 2D game will be offering VR players a completely new experience.

Shiro Games revealed Dune Spice Wars, an RTS currently headed for early access on PC sometime in 2022.

Star Trek and The Expanse Getting Games from Former Telltale Devs
In one of the bigger surprises last night, Dramatic Labs announced that it’s working on two episodic titles from some HUGE franchises. Star Trek Resurgence will bring players an all-new story set shortly after the events of Next Generation. This one is targeting a spring 2022 launch date for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC via Epic Games Store.
Dramatic Labs in partnership with Deck Nine is also working on an episodic game based on the Amazon sci-fi series, The Expanse. According to what we know, the events of the game will serve as a prequel to the live-action series.
Thirsty Suitors Coming from Outerloop Games
Thirsty Suiters is a “narrative action-adventure game that grapples with themes of complex family dynamics, navigating difficult relationships, and discovering one’s true self”. It’s being developed by Outerloop Games, creators of Falcon Age. It is “coming soon” for PC.

- Lost Ark will be available for PC via Steam on February 11, 2022
