If you’ve played through your entire Steam collection during the pandemic lockdown, we have great news for you. The Steam Summer Sale has officially kicked off to offer players tons of great deals on some of the hottest AAA and indie games on the planet.
How do I get Steam Points?
Whenever you make a purchase on Steam, you’ll be given Steam Points based on how much you spend. First, we convert this amount to USD, which then converts directly to the number of points you receive. You will not receive any points for funding your Steam Wallet or for any Steam Community Market purchases.
You can also get Steam Points if someone from the community grants an award to one of your user reviews or other uploaded content such as screenshots, videos, guides, or Workshop items.
This year is a bit different for players. When purchasing games, buyers will earn points that can be spent on the Points Ship. Items that can be bought include Animated Avatars, Frames, Backgrounds, Badges, and Chat items. While the Points Ship is debuting during the sale event, it will be in place year-round. The caveat is that these items cannot be marketed or traded.
Points Ship items include:
- The Debut Collection – avatars, frames, stickers, animated profile backgrounds
- Items from Games You Play – emoticons, backgrounds, trading cards
- The Summer Golden Profile
- Community Awards – recognize other Steam users with rewards for reviews or other user-generated content
