The Witcher 3 Isn’t Getting A PS5 or Xbox Series X Upgrade Anytime Soon After Another Delay

The Witcher 3 PlayStation 5 and Series X upgrades are delayed for an indefinite amount of time, thanks to long running development issues.

In a twitter post, developer CD Projekt Red confirmed that the upcoming next generation upgrades to the Witcher 3 won’t see the light of day any time soon. The studio that had been working towards a Q2 2022 release of the highly regarded Witcher title will now keep fans updated, but hasn’t decided on a date. Instead, the company has confirmed the following:

“have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.”

This isn’t the first time CD Projekt Red has suffered development setbacks. The release of the much anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 was blighted by bugs, performance issues, and a general lack of life in Night City. We were lucky enough to play it on a PlayStation 5, meaning our Cyberpunk 2077 review was largely unhindered by these issues, but we’re still seeing patches to bring it up to its full potential now. This step to delay the upgrade of an iconic game might be the result.

Still, it’s likely we will all take Geralt for a spin and stare at the beautiful new mane of hair that Roach gets whenever Witcher 3 hits PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
