Walk into a world where the gorgeous vistas are backed by Studio Ghibli artist, Yoichi Nishikawa.
Following the Towers of Aghasba announcement last month, indie studio Dreamlit Games revealed a little more about the world you’ll be able to build. In a deep dive into the artwork of this adventure, the developers introduce and chat with Studio Ghibli’s premiere background artist about his work on the upcoming fantasy builder.
While you might be more familiar his work bringing the miraculous to life in films like The Boy and the Heron and Howl’s Moving Castle, Nishikawa’s work seems just as important here. He discusses the integration of his art into a 3D game world. He discusses his early doubts the initial work that led him to join the project, and his hopes for the full release. What might seem like simple samples here is reflected in a distinctive style that you’ll be able to glimpse in the recent trailers too. You can have a look at the charming interview above or over on the official YouTube channel now.
Towers of Aghasba is more than a gorgeous-looking game. The unique aesthetic is due to welcome players into the world of the Shimu people. You’ll discover a realm where the locals are forced to flee their home after a powerful force ravages the land. It’s up to you to help recover from the Withered. As a junior architect, players can rebuild from what’s left. Explore a huge landscape, climb giant cliffs, glide from vistas, and befriend the local wildlife. Across 3 types of unique ecosystems, players can craft weapons, armors, and elixirs to aid in the battle against monsters afflicting the land with rot. Banish the malignant influence and begin to rebuild. Create 3 different types of towns, farm over 120 plants, and decorate the new dwellings using 150+ recipes in an enthralling experience.
