The deck-building dungeon runner brings the iconic guild back to the screen in a manner that is different from the Shonen gacha grabs and fighting games we’ve seen before.
Delving into the unknown in solo dungeons, this inexpensive outing for the Fairy Tail guild plunges one of the five members of this team into a deck-building roguelike. Players picking up the battle must venture into the darkness and build a deck of powerful skills to upgrade their power. Strategize and attack with powerful Magic Chains. Call down celestial spirits as Lucy to deal massive damage, form defensive structures as Gray to increase survivability, and charge fearlessly with Erza’s deadly sword.
Along the way, the cute 2D battler will block your path with minotaurs, cyclops birds, giant orcs, and huge boss battles. Even if you fall at their feet, each run will unlock powerful amulets and a range of progression power-ups to make your characters more powerful after every run.
Players who enjoy Slay the Spore, Monster Train, and the like should be right at home here. Anybody new to the deck builder genre who is worried this is just another cash grab will be relieved to know that the Fairy Tail creator, Hiro Mashima, even has input into the game’s designs.
