A new developer has taken over the creation of Tropico 6. As a result, the city building game will not be out until 2018. The news was announced during this week’s E3 in Los Angeles.
Tropico 6 and the future
The last three games in the series were developed by Haemimont Games. Limbic Entertainment will be taking over the series as well as bringing its own unique touch to the game. Limbic most recently developed Might & Magic: Legacy. The reasons for the development change were not given.
According to a press announcement, the game “represents a bold new lease of life for the much-loved series” including a custom engine built using Unreal Engine 4.
Players will actively work to build and maintain roads and bridges as well as provide transportation. Agents will sneak out into the world to steal the wonders of the world including famous landmarks. In addition, the player’s palace can be decorated at will.
While mostly a single player game, T6 also includes coop party play and a competitive mode.
