After welcoming players to the latest installment of real-time strategy/builder The Settlers, the team from Ubisoft has released a new video to share developer insights and their vision behind the game.
The Settlers journey begins with a strong economy aspect: players have to build their bases, gather resources and process them, take care of infrastructure and so much more. The game will introduce a new unit class, the Engineer, to construct buildings, claim new territory, survey for underground deposits and interact with landmarks – key strategic points that can be taken over for rewards.
Of course, you also need to keep those in your possession – and an army full of military, support and siege units will come in handy.
“A group of settlers fleeing from a military coup on their home island embark on a journey in an inviting, believable and living medieval fantasy world to find a new home and the promised land of their ancestors. Settle on and explore new islands, make allies and fight against ruthless bandits that try spread control over many islands.”
Players can look forward to a variety of game modes, including a story-driven campaign, a number of multiplayer modes, a special Onslaught mode and much more.
Additionally, the developers have revealed The Settlers Closed Beta Test that will start on January 20th and end on January 24th. Check out the official announcement to find out more and register for participation.
