UK Charts: Horizon Zero Dawn Forbidden West Makes It Back To The Top Spot

Horizon Forbidden West Showed Off the New Machines

Three months after it initially launched in February 2022, Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn Forbidden West has made something of a stunning comeback and tops this week’s UK Video Game Charts.

The numbers for this week are out and it looks like Aloy is on top once more. The UK boxed sales charts for the week ending 21 May 2022 are out and the healing is a dramatic return for the headlining Sony adventure as players step out into a massive open world filed with giant mechanical terrors and an even more deadly foe beyond the Forbidden West. The Sony exclusive managed the leap thanks to a brand new official PS5 hardware bundle, which includes the sequel to the very first of this series.

UK Chart
  1. Horizon Forbidden West
  2. Nintendo Switch Sports
  3. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
  4. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
  5. Pokémon Legends: Arceus
  6. Minecraft (Switch Edition)
  7. Grand Theft Auto 5
  8. FIFA 22
  9. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  10. Gran Turismo 7

Forbidden West was not the only items to shift around this week with an overall boost in sales for anything available on PlayStation 5, knocking Nintendo Switch Sports off the top spot and seeing Gran Turismo, another Sony exclusive, jump up 3 spots into the top ten.

The UK Video games chart numbers we get reflect the boxed sales, which means digital downloads of all the incredible indies and top tier AAA titles from the PlayStation store don’t get added in. This means it’s no surprise that the first official PlayStation 5 bundle had a dramatic impact on this week’s chart, and it’s likely to be the case that the ongoing presence of Nintendo Switch games and the enduring legacy of FIFA continues when this shake up starts to ebb away.
