Inventive new foldable adventure Hirogami appeared at Tokyo Game Show
Bandai Namco Singapore and Japanese publisher Kakehashi games have revealed an intriguing new 3D platformer for Tokyo game Show that we can’t ait to fold into our schedule. Inspired by the age old art of paper folding and the rise of screen based stories, Hirogami is a 3D action platformer where players explore a world built to reflect the physical nature of paper.
Taking control of an angular avatar, this tale floats, fights, and flees through a gorgeous looking environment that seems as railed as the paper that it emulates. Along the way, this a fan-wielding master of the art of ‘folding’ will explore every corner of this world. Unfolding into a sheet of paper to ride fiery updrafts, rearrange to become a paper plane, or discover new forms and go swinging through the trees as a powerful ape. These are just a few of the mechanics that this flexible form can take as players fight an encroaching digital force known as the Blight. A new trailer dropped for the announcement, giving off charming vibes, a soothing soundscape full of traditional Japanese instruments, and an inviting adventure.
I’m kind of sold already and anybody as eager to grab a stack of paper and prepare can follow @Kakehashi_Games on X/Twitter for updates. Hirogami will ‘unfold’ onto PC, via Steam, later next year.
