The VtM: Bloodlines 2 forum has been updated with a new developer diary that centers on what the team has been working on for the past several months. It begins with the news that the team is, as expected, working from home due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As the tools, infrastructure, and hardware needs of the team has been met, it has been able to move on to work on a huge part of the game, namely the side-quest system.
“Side quests are where you really get to meet the World of Darkness in Bloodlines 2, just like the first game. They’re also one of the main rewards for stepping off the beaten path and exploring our version of Seattle. Most of our side-quests are written, scripted, and locked down in the game, and we are very excited to share them with you. The narrative design department has been hard at work making sure these side quests feel every bit as integral to the fabric of the game as the main quests.”
In addition to side-quests, the team has also made the decision to “expand your baseline Thinblood abilities to traversal”. This was done to give players a more exciting experience early in the game and the team has spent time going through the game, “particularly hubs, and investigating all the ways we could make them more exciting and seamless for you to use”.
