Warframe Update Koumei and The Five Fates Arrives on 2 October

Koumei and The Five Fates is destined to arrive on all platforms this Wednesday.

Warframe arrived at Tokyo Game Show over the weekend and promptly announced that Koumei and The Five Fates will debut on 2 October across PC and consoles. The latest update to the sci-fi action adventure introduces new battles, missions, bosses, and an incredible new Warframe.

The 58th namesake warrior, Koumei the dice-maiden, dances into battle with luck on her side. RNG abilities are at the core of this cool design. Players will be able to thread together Kumihimo traps to damage and inflict random status ailments on enemies. This powerful frame’s omniscient capabilities provide Omikuji and utilize Omamori charms. These unlock powerful buffs in the moment and can randomly convert damage into a positive health bias or shields. Alternatively, grasp your own fate and use the Bunraku ultimate ability to puppeteer fiends’ fates yourself.

Whether you p[pick up the latest Warframe or not, players can expect a bunch of new content as part of the latest update. The new Shrine Defense missions challenge Tenno to defend an earth-bound settlement from waves of intruders. Infested invaders from the sea will attempt to overrun the shrine before pulling back for the introduction of a powerful Infested Oni to the fight. You’ll need to support and defend, with loot like Koumei’s crafting parts, “gunbrella” called Higasa, and a Naginata inspired polearm named Amanata available, or instantly unlockable from the Marketplace with Platinum. There’s a look ahead to Koumei’s capabilities in the Devstream 181 replay and teaser trailer, available to view right now.

Aside from the new content and Warframe, the Devstream touched on quality-of-life enhancements and a Warframe: 1999 demo. Fixes that can be found include an improved new player experience, a cross-trading platform, and a massive Caliban rework. The aforementioned Warframe: 1999 demo is a hands on preview for the next major narrative quest, which developer Digital Extremes has been hyping since way before TennoCon 2024 took a look ahead to the past. Coming a little later and landing on 16 October, the new demo will put players in control of Arthur and plunge into an alternative 1999 world where technology has taken a very different turn. Battle through an Exterminate mission against the Scaldra, try out an Atomicyle, and pretend Y2k is just around the corner, all while earning the Protokol Longsword Skin. Then, simply wait for the Warframe: 1999 winter launch with Koumei and The Five Fates.
