Why is Angry Birds 2 The Highest Rated Video Game Movie On Rotten Tomatoes?

angry birds 2

The Angry Birds Movie 2 has managed a score of around 70%, right now, on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated video game adaptation on the review site.

Somehow, the Angry Birds franchise has achieved something noteworthy and we’re still not sure how this happened. I’d like to say that I’m talking about the movie-making it into production but that was a certainty after the first film took over $350 million worldwide. Now, the second of the two Angry Birds films has arrived ten years after the game and managed to score an unusually high mark on the Rotten Tomatoes website. It follows a 44% score for the first film and puts the title above other attempts to bring the gaming market to the big screen. The next nearest review score for a gaming title comes from Detective Pikachu at the upper 60s while Alone in the Dark rates as one of the worst at only a solitary 1% score.

Now I’m not a huge fan of Angry Birds repetitive bird flinging antics on mobile devices but even they have more merit than a film that makes Pixels look plot heavy. The success of this particular film probably falls heavily on its target audience and the holiday season that it is playing to. Still, I’m not putting this past a repeating series of clerical errors by every contributor tot he internet’s favorite food based review site or the fact that I’m just not the right audience for this. If this isn’t quite your fare then I’d suggest some first person fare with Hardcore Henry or some cheese with the first Mortal Kombat movie? What video game films would you put above this and can somebody tell me why?

For those of you who I’ve not met yet, my name is Ed. Now, you will find me squawking across a multitude of sites and even getting to play games now and then
