Witchfire Steam Early Access Aims For a September 2024 Arrival

The Witchfire Steam Early Access launch is set for later this year on PC.

Finally, the Witch Hunters are branching out. Developer The Astronauts has confirmed that this genre FPS turned fire and forget witch trial is coming to Steam Early Access. After initially opening up on the Epic Games Store last year, the dark fantasy shooter is expanding its gaze and shooting up Steam with a year of updates already in place.

Witchfire is a single-player, dark fantasy RPG FPS, where you play as a wicked sinner turned Witch Hunter on his last mission to reach salvation. Along the way you’ll wield a range of explosive weapons and dark magic, all brewed together to create a distinct experience. Like seemingly any game these days, it incorporates some souls like elements to keep things fresh on every run, while you battle the Witch of the Black Sea and her witchfire-fueled army. If you die, you have one chance to return and claim what you lost— or regroup and tackle different enemies.

The Steam release isn’t just aa storefront port. A new update will arrive in time for Steam owners. The Wailing Tower patch brings elements of cosmic horror to Witchfire and offers the first new raid map since the game’s release. This imposing challenge features new power ups. Prophecies and curses will challenge players or make life easier, while the souls of fallen preyers can be called upon to aid you in your quest. Gear, gameplay, and musical updates from composers Marcin Przybyłowicz (The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077), P.T. Adamczyk (Gwent, Cyberpunk 2077) and Paweł Błaszczak (Dead Island, Call of Juarez, Dying Light) have been added too.

If you DOOM is too many feet into Hell for your FPS itch and you want to scour the world of evil instead, then take a look at the Witchfire Steam Page ahead of its launch.
