Grab your broomsticks and prepare to blast away anything that moves in a genre that doesn’t normally go full might and magic. Cotton Fantasy is set to come to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on 20 May.
Side scrolling shoot ’em ups are normally something of a sci-fi trope these days. With the exception of a few outliers like Octogeddon, you won’t see many variations on this theme. Now ININ Games is set to shove a broomstick in your hand and hope that things turn out for the best as Cotton Fantasy launches on 20 May. This bright new twist on the Shump shelves is already available in Japan, known as Cotton Rock ‘n Roll, is just the latest entry in a long running series and adds a whole ton of upgrades for anybody familiar with the series.
After the willows begin vanishing from Fairyland , series protagonist Silk is entrusted with finding out what exactly is going on. What follows is 16 colourful and varied scrolling stages of easy to access shoot em up action. Balanced atop a broomstick, and featuring new game mechanics, Silke and five other playable characters will take on this tale. Along the way you’ll be able to use different playable mechanics, including completely new skills such as Psyvariar‘s “Buzz” system and Sanvien‘s “Time Attack”. The newest title in this series gets full HD graphics and a soundtrack full of equally upgraded classic tracks too.
