Newly announced retro-styled World of Horror is a monochrome pixel art role-playing game by Polish studio Panstasz. VentureBeat’s Mike Minotti reports, from a press release originally sent to GamesBeat, the Lovecraftian inspired RPG will release to PC, Switch, and PS4 in 2019.
World of Horror is set in Japan where ancient gods are tearing the sanity from the townspeople. “The Old Gods are reawakening, clawing their way back into a world that’s spiraling into a mysterious madness.” states the opening paragraph of the their website. The studio describes their game as a love letter to Junii Ito and H.P. Lovecraft, being free from typical jump scare tactics “relying solely on its unnerving environments and amorphous terrors to create a gnawing sense of dread” explains the developer.
Navigate this hellish, rogue-lite reality through turn-based combat and unforgiving choices. Experiment with the events of a play-through by building a deck of event cards to discover different outcomes for your battles against darkness. Different decks may even unlock new mysteries or clues. – Panstasz
