World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic Announced

During the stream dedicated to the future of the franchise, the developers of MMORPG World of Warcraft have announced the new chapter arriving in the Classic saga. The long-awaited Wrath of the Lich King Classic is coming later this year, bringing along new level cap, the continent of Northrend, Death Knights and much more. When it launches in 2022, this finely tuned re-release of the smash-hit 2008 expansion will be available at no additional cost to all players with an active World of Warcraft subscription.

Players of both the noble Alliance and the mighty Horde will have access to the game’s first Hero Class. Harness the powers of darkness to help combat the evil that threatens Azeroth as a Death Knight, starting at level 55. All players will be able to create their first Death Knight characters without any prerequisites or restrictions. Note: Death Knights can not be level boosted.

The new Inscription profession allows players to scribe mystical glyphs that alter the appearance and modify the properties of spells and abilities, as well as craft powerful trinkets and off-hand items. Rejoice, Achievement hunters! Achievements are coming to WoW Classic, giving players a whole new set of rewards for their exploits and accomplishments.

In keeping with the WoW Classic ethos, players will be able to relive seminal 5-player dungeons without the automated Dungeon Finder grouping tool, keeping players in control of their adventures into strongholds like Azjol-Nerub, or reliving the story of Arthas’ key moments in The Culling of Stratholme. Additionally, players will once again be able to venture forth into the floating necropolis of Naxxramas, a 10-player raid which is an update of its original iteration as a 40-player raid in pre-expansion World of Warcraft.

And lastly, the Barber Shop that was introduced during the original Wrath of the Lich King expansion will have the gender swap feature added to give players more agency over their appearance using in-game gold rather than real-life currency.
