World War Z is an upcoming team-based zombie swarm experience from Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive that promises to be a dynamic and pulse-pounding flurry of adrenaline-fueled, zombie mayhem. To accurately represent the iconic zombie swarms of the World War Z movie that inspired the game, the developers have created a new, dynamic Swarm Engine that is able to produce hundreds of zombies and enables them to not only act as a cohesive swarm but also allows for groups or individual zombies to break off to pursue anything that might have caught their attention. So sorry, but your fantasies of undead shambling around at a snail’s pace are about to be trampled under an oncoming wave of highspeed, versatile death.
With six distinctive classes and a wide range of zombie-stopping weapons, including explosives, turrets, and traps, join your four-person co-op team to face and hopefully survive the hordes of oncoming zombies in fierce, unrelenting encounters. The game progresses through a series of individual episodes, each with their own story and their own characters, but inevitably, all facing impending death at the hands, teeth, feet of the oncoming swarms of zombies. As if that weren’t enough, the WWZ will also include a Player vs. Player vs. Zombie mode that allows you and your team to face off against other teams, if you can find the time to fight each other while dealing with the massive numbers of zombies coming at you. Don’t worry, the zombies are equal-opportunity swarmers. You all just look like lunch.
In anticipation of the April 16, 2019 release date, Saber and Focus Home have released a five-minute developer diary that highlights the amazing effects and implementation of the new engine while giving insight into the personal inspirations and passions that drive the creative teams.
