WoW Shadowlands Delayed, Pre-patch Event Starts October 13th

WoW: Shadowlands

Blizzard Entertainment has some sad news for folks hoping to play World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. WoW: Shadowlands was set to launch on October 26th but it has now been delayed to some indistinct time in the future. According to the note posted on the official site, developers are “in the process of determining the right new date to launch”. The team still seems committed to a 2020 release as John Hight’s letter states, “We’re delaying the release of Shadowlands to later this year”. That much is, at least good news for players wanting to dive into new content.

[A]s everything started coming together and we’ve been listening to and building upon your feedback, it’s become clear we need a little more time for additional polish, and to balance and iterate on some interlocking pieces—particularly those related to the endgame. Shadowlands is one of the most intricate expansions we’ve yet created, and while we’ve made great progress, the challenge of tuning the endgame was compounded by the team having to work from home.

Blizzard has a commitment to quality. We believe Shadowlands will be something special, and we’ve heard from many of you who feel the same. We need this extra time to ensure that Shadowlands lives up to its full potential.

The silver lining is, however, that the pre-patch event finally has a date. Players will be able to play through the events that bridge content between Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands starting October 13th. It brings with it “revamped character leveling, a new-player experience on Exile’s Reach, and a host of new character customization options”.
