Developer Blizzard Entertainment has taken to the official site of World of Warcraft to outline one of the new systems coming in The War Within: Warbands. This new feature will encompass all of the characters on a player’s Battle.net account, as well as the items, collections, and progression they share. Note that the reach of the Warbands is limited to a single region, but spans across every realm and faction.
“Many aspects of World of Warcraft have been shared across your account for a long time—essentially a Warband. This includes your collection of pets, mounts, transmogs, heirlooms, and more. With the release of Warbands, we are significantly expanding what additional aspects of the game have Warband integration.”
Here are some of the things included in the Warbands:
- New reputations and Renown tracks will be Warband-wide.
- A new Warband bank will allow you to easily store and share items between your characters.
- The ability to collect most item appearances with any character in your Warband, regardless of their ability to equip the gear.
The main goal of the new system is to make playing alts more enjoyable, and allowing players to switch between characters without falling behind. Additionally, whenever possible, Blizzard would like to celebrate the player’s accomplishments within the Warbands and not just the characters’.
Last but not least, it has not always been clear which parts of the game apply to characters versus the entire account. This opportunity lets Blizzard clarify these differences in the UI. Follow the link above to see the full, in-detail preview as to what is offered through Warbands.
The War Within is the first of the three new announced expansions that serves as the entry into the World Soul Saga. It arrives in Fall 2024, stay tuned!
