Christmas is almost here and you’re starting to panic. That special gamer in your life wanted a PlayStation 5 and no matter how hard you tried you weren’t one of the lucky ones to snag one to put under the tree. Or maybe you weren’t looking to upgrade just yet and still need to find that PS4 gamer the perfect gift. Either way, we’re here to help. We’ve put together some gift ideas that are sure to make any PlayStation fan happy.
PlayStation Plus
PlayStation Plus is the gift that keeps on giving. A monthly subscription service, PS+ opens up the world of online multiplayer on the PlayStation 4, letting your gamer go head to head against their friends and opponents from around the globe. Each month PS+ also offers up two games to download and play for as long as you are subscribed.
PS5 owners also get the added bonus of the PlayStation Plus Collection. This collection of 20 games is yours to download and play and includes some of the most iconic games of the PS4 era, with titles like God of War, Uncharted 4, and Bloodborne.
PlayStation Now
Just like the Xbox, Sony has a monthly gaming service for the PS4. With 300+ PS4 titles available to download to your PS4 and over 800 games from the PS2, PS3, and PS4 available to stream to either your PS4 or PC, PlayStation Now is a great choice for gamers that want a large collection of games at their fingertips. There are new titles added into the rotation every month so your choice of games will never get stale.
Controllers
The PlayStation 5 comes with the new DualSense controller but, like always, you will need to grab a second controller for local multiplayer. We don’t want to leave PS4 owners out in the cold, so you could always refresh their used and abused DualShock 4 controller or upgrade to a third party controller like the Razer Raion Fightpad.
Games Or Gift Cards?
Grabbing one of the hottest new titles is always a good choice to put under the tree. Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, and next week’s Cyberpunk 2077 will all make great gifts. For anyone still hoping to upgrade to a PS5 in the near future, be sure to check out this list of PS4 games that come with a free upgrade to the PS5 version.
But what if you don’t know what game to get or whether the gamer on your list prefers physical disks or digital download? Just grab a PlayStation gift card and they can get the game of their choosing. No disappointed looks when you get the wrong game. No worries about whether the game can be returned or exchanged.
PlayStation VR
While PS5 owners may want to wait and see what Sony has in store with the rumored but still officially unannounced PSVR 2, I don’t know of any PS4 gamer that would be upset to unwrap a PlayStation VR bundle this holiday season. The price is steep, though, coming in at $349 for the current bundle that includes the headset, camera, PS Move controllers, and Marvel’s Iron Man VR. If you do decide to drop the cash for PSVR, be sure to pick up a couple of extra VR games like Beat Saber or Astro Bot: Rescue Mission.
Headsets
Are you tired of hearing sounds of gunfire or crashing cars in the other room and screaming at your gamer to turn it down? Then a headset will be the perfect gift for you and your gamer. They’ll be able to crank the volume up as loud as they want and you’ll have the peace and quiet you deserve. With prices ranging from around $30 for a low end wired set like the Turtle Beach Recon 200 to over $300 for something like the high-end Arctis Pro Wireless, there’s sure to be a pair that fit your budget. Just be sure to grab a pair that are PS4 compatible.
Light up!
No, I’m not talking about that! I’m talking about the Paladone PlayStation Icon Light. This light will look great sitting on the entertainment center next to a PS4 or PS5 or, if you don’t want to geek up your living room, it would be a great addition to wherever your gamer displays all of their geeky collectibles.
Drink Up!
No matter what your gamer’s drink of choice is, there’s a beverage gift just for them. For those who need a hot cup of coffee to get going in the morning, you can pick them up a PlayStation Controller Coffee Cup for $14.99 or let their Playstation pride brighten the rest of their day for just $27.95 with a Lite-up DualSense water bottle. Or, if you’re tired of cleaning water rings off your coffee table, throw a set of PlayStation coasters in their stocking.
