Dragon’s Crown Pro – Enhanced Gameplay First Impressions

A modern take on a PlayStation 3 classic
Dragon's Crown Pro

Swords, sorcery, dungeon crawls, and more await you in this beautifully remastered 2D Role-Playing Game. Originally introduced for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita this 2D dungeon crawling, action RPG is just what you are looking for on those cold nights with no one around to hold you. The simplicity of the game is astounding for a game that is so cartoon beautiful. The artwork for the characters, the backgrounds, literally everything has been updated to make it 4K compatible. I have looked at older images of the original game, and I can tell you with 100% clarity that the graphics in the game now are that much clearer. The very distinct pixelation around borders and images is gone, it leaves you with a very clean feeling game.

There are many cool characters in this game and the animations for them are even better. The characters are as follows:

  • Fighter
  • Amazon
  • Wizard
  • Elf
  • Dwarf
  • Sorceress

So far with my hours of playing, I have fallen in love with the Elf character. Straight up Legolas feel to it and I love that aspect of the character. Using the bow from long range and attacking with the bow short range is awesome as well. You also get better weapons as you level up and this allows your Elf to become even more awesome than before.

Like most role-playing games, Dragon’s Crown Pro also has a town that you can travel through unlocking different points of interest in order to buy weapons and other things. The map is pretty straightforward and you run back and forth doing what you have to do, and then all you have to do is go to whichever entrance for the building or street that you need to. You will be doing this and dungeon crawling, and just trying to destroy all of the beasts and monsters that are looking to defeat you.

Developed by Vanillaware and Atlus, Dragon’s Crown Pro has the promise to be one of the best role-playing games I have played in years, including Final Fantasy games. If you would like to get your hands on this great game, it comes out live on May 15, 2018, and is set to be released at 49.99 USD.

  1. So I think my real question is did the game change or was anything added or is it just 4K quality now? I remember it didn’t really hold my interest on the PS3, not sure if it was the side scrolling or the content.
