Darkest Dungeon Shieldbreaker DLC

Darkest Dungeon has come out with a new DLC featuring the Shieldbreaker. For anyone unfamiliar with the game it’s a roguelike game where choices you make while in and out of battle matter.  While trying to reclaim your family’s old lands you employ various mercenaries in groups of four to delve deeper and deeper into the dark unknown of the area. Not only do you have to worry about people dying from physical ailments, but you have to worry about stress and mental ailments as well. Curing them as best you can when the mission is over in taverns and such. This is our review of the Darkest Dungeon Shieldbreaker DLC

What does the newest addition to Darkest Dungeon bring to us? It brings the new hero class the Shieldbreaker as well as trinkets specifically for her class. Also coming to town are three new monsters flavored by her origins and a new consumable. I was unlucky (or lucky depending on your point of view) enough to not run into any of the new monsters, but what I have seen of them they fit her story well.

The Shieldbreaker is meant to be a frontline warrior whose attacks almost all have movement abilities attached to them. Allowing her to go back and forth between spots in your lineup. I mostly used her in the 2nd position and had he go back and forth with whoever my tank character as. I’ll say first off that her health is low and I’d hazard to say she is a squishy character. She has a skill to offset this by giving her a guard, to help mitigate the damage taken. Her moves can be quite powerful. I found myself position dancing with her to dot enemies with and throw a lance through the entire group. She also excels at damaging high protection enemies and those that have guard. Her skills and health pool take some getting used to. My current graveyard has more Shieldbreakers than anyone else at the moment. But she is a nice tactical addition to Darkest Dungeon. You can pick up the DLC on Steam for $4.99 USD.
