Escape from Tarkov – Patch 12.5 Notes

The long-awaited moment for most players will soon be upon us, “The Wipe”. For now, however, here comes patch 12.5 with some new features added that will help new players, and old players alike, with optimizations as well. For a game that I wasn’t even playing in 2019, this game has taken up a lot of my time, and other players’ time as well, so these changes were needed.

Since December, Escape from Tarkov (EFT) has taken off in terms of popularity. There were a lot of streamers who switched from other games to take on the hardcore challenges that EFT provides to its player base. With the influx of new players came other server-side issues that also caused some headaches. The developers have been very open about the direction the title is going. They have talked about it on podcasts, and even on streamers Twitch pages. With this openness comes patch 12.5.

I have tended to only use a certain few optics in EFT due to how the sensitivity of the scopes worked. For example, the HAMR scope had a very low movement speed, with the changes in 12.5 scopes, such as this one, have similar sensitivity now and this allows for smoother aiming from one scope to another. Another issue I had that was fixed was stuttering in the game when using ADS with the scopes.

Another feature that has been added is PostFX in the settings menu. This replaces the Nvidia filters that players were using to change how they perceived the game by changing brightness levels, game clarity, and even changes for people who need different settings because of color blindness. Here are some views of the game with and without these filters.
