We’re on the home stretch. Christmas is just a few days away and some of us are still racing to get those last few gifts checked off our lists. Over the last few weeks we covered some great gift ideas for gamers of all sorts – PlayStation, PC, and Xbox, but we know that not everyone on your list is into video games. So, with expedited delivery in mind, we found some gifts that you can grab for the geeks, gamers, and nerds on your list that will push their Christmas morning loot haul to the next level. Their collection covers anime, cartoons, music, pop culture, and games, so there’s sure to be something to help you scratch someone off your nice (or naughty) list.
Book Club Subscriptions
With so many people’s lives consumed by social media, pulling your eyes away from your phone, TV, or computer screen and planting your face in an old fashioned printed book has to be one of the geekiest things a person can do these days. You could always pick up a book or two as a gift, but why stop there when you can gift your book lover a full year of books with a book club subscription. Trying to find the perfect book club can be hard to do, so thankfully Cratejoy and Bookriot have already put together a couple of lists with a wide variety of themes. Or, if you aren’t sure you can peel the person on your list away from their electronic device, you could always go with a subscription to Audible and at least have them listen to life-enriching content.
Dungeons & Dragons Accessories
There’s not a single one of my geeky friends that wouldn’t like to have some new dice in their stocking, and some of them don’t even play D&D any more. A quick drive to a local game shop will give you more gift ideas than you can shake your wand at, from the newest rule books, dice, and miniatures, to used or hard to find items to round out your geek’s favorite collection. Don’t know where to find such a shop? Just do a quick search for ‘board game stores near me’ or check and see if your town is on Boardgaming.com’s list of local stores.
If you’re looking for something really special, there are tons of great gifts to be found at Wyrmwood Gaming or Misty Mountain Gaming, to name but a couple of online shops. Misty Mountain has some amazing dice sets and bags, and Wyrmwood has dice towers, trays, and other accessories any tabletop gamer would be proud to carry to their next gaming session. You probably won’t have them in time for Christmas, but they are worth the wait.
ROSSM Minimalist Wallet
With gargantuan cell phones, flash drives, the Nintendo Switch, and a plethora of other electronic gadgets filling up your purse or pockets, finding space for your wallet is getting harder every day. Fortunately, there are some very inventive people out there that have come up with ways to downsize from a bulky wallet, and these will make great stocking stuffers for the whole family, not just the geeks on your gift list.
If your geeky friend is still using a big leather wallet or, god forbid, a tri-fold velcro wallet, then it’s time to get them to upgrade to a minimalist wallet. The Ridge Wallet was the first minimalist wallet that piqued my interest, and they have some really stylish, though somewhat expensive, options. I personally went with something cheaper, and after 2+ years I can say the $19.99 ROSSM wallet I found on Amazon is holding up just fine. Even at the $30 price I paid for it back then I consider it a great deal, and it will fit in someone’s pocket just as easily as it’ll fit in their stocking.
KeySmart Compact Key Holder
Another piece of pocket gear I can slap my personal stamp of approval on is the KeySmart compact key holder. This fantastic stocking stuffer is super small and can still hold up to 8 keys, and it only costs $11.49. For a few more dollars, and a little more bulkiness, KeySmart has other options that can turn this little gem into a tool kit that rivals a Swiss Army knife. The best thing about this little gift is it stops my pocket from jingling and at the same time helps reduce the chance of my keys scratching everything else around them.
Loot Crate Subscription
Lootcrate may not be the cheapest option on this list, but it is by far the geekiest. Every month or two, depending on the specific crate, the recipient will receive a box of geeky goodies to rummage through. The original Lootcrate has a different pop culture theme every month and there’s no telling what you’re going to get. They have other crates that are more specific, ranging from movies, games, and anime to name just a few. They even have crates like Lootsocks to really narrow down the scope of offerings.
The Geeky Chef Cookbook
If you’ve ever been watching a sci-fi movie with someone and you started having a conversation about what otherworldly foods would taste like, then The Geeky Chef Cookbook is the perfect gift. Covering everything from drinks like Blue Milk from a galaxy far, far away to the closer to home Big Kahuna Burger from Pulp Fiction, this unofficial collection of recipes is collected from your favorite movies, TV shows, and games.
