Least Favorite Games Of 2019 – Getting To Know The GameSpace Staff

Not Every Game Gets A 10 Out Of 10
Best of 2019

Last week we picked the brains of the GameSpace staff to help give you some insight into the minds of the writers behind the reviews. When asked about their favorite game of 2019, the staff showed just how diverse their game tastes can be. There wasn’t quite as much diversity with this week’s question: What were your least favorite games of 2019, and why? So check out the games that left a sour taste in our mouths and, as always, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

  • Game: Atlas
  • Developer: Studio Wildcard
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox One
  • Release Date: December 22, 2018

I play 99.9% of my games in duo so how this experience has the biggest impact on my enjoyment. In 2019 Atlas was the least enjoyable game we’ve played it is simply impossible to enjoy as a duo – every activity had a negative effect from mining to sailing, – even combat. It is in early access though so here is hoping there is a vast improvement before launch!

  • Game: Devil’s Hunt
  • Developer: Layopi Games LLC
  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
  • Release Date: September 17, 2019

Dear gods, it was awful. I don’t know how I got through the time I did playing it. The script, the animations, it was sooooo terrible. It was like someone made a bad game of a mistranslated straight to video ’80s movie. It was so terrible it went past cheese to just plain awful.

  • Game: Fallout 76
  • Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
  • Release Date: October 23, 2018

I was unfortunate enough to actually purchase this and experience the wasteland firsthand on day 1. You’d think by now it’d be fixed right? Nope, the game has continued to rack up bad press like nothing I’ve seen before. Releasing a paid monthly pass that not only doesn’t work as advertised but actually breaks your existing game? Yup, it’s still a terrible game in 2019.

  • Game: Fallout 76

I didn’t buy Fallout 76 ’til earlier this year. I don’t dislike it so much from a gameplay perspective, though I found it tedious most of the time. What Bethesda is doing, however, is terrible and it’s like they move from one dumb decision to another.

Kevin C “Xevrin”

  • Game: Fallout 76

Can I just say any game that went overboard with microtransactions in 2019… no, oh ok. I am going to shove Fallout 76 in this spot since I bought two copies at the end of 2018 at full price and taking into account the updates in 2019 along with the release of the Fallout 1st membership… Why? What? How?… Why? That is all I have to say.

Mitch Gassner

  • Game: Anthem
  • Developer: BioWare
  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
  • Release Date: February 22, 2019

I really liked Anthem. It’s still installed on my PC as we speak, and I still have a slight glimmer of hope that it will someday become what it should be. Unfortunately, it is also my biggest gaming disappointment of 2019. I mean, the combat is just fantastic, full of just the right amount of chaos paired with the ability of a cohesive group to shred anything they come across. Beyond that, there is an average story hidden somewhere behind the walls of Fort Tarsis, clunky matchmaking, an utter lack of weapon customization, and a Cataclysm that was a day late and a dollar short. That is just a short list of the things that made me quickly lose interest in Anthem when I was expecting a game I could play for a long, long time. With the recent rumors of BioWare’s plans to revamp Anthem, can they pull off a rebirth of Anthem similar to what we saw with No Man’s Sky? I won’t be holding my breath.
