Robocraft Infinity: Beta Test First Impressions

2018 brings us a lot of great things including, movies, and games, and new everything. The one thing to look most forward to is Robocraft Infinity. This game is the love child of Minecraft and Battlebots and it shows how great it can be, even in early beta. Robocraft Infinity has you immediately brought into your crafting hanger where you can create your own bot, or use a premade one. Each of the pieces used to create your bot is a geometric shape. Some are square, some are rounded, and some have angles cut out of them. No matter what you use, the end result is something that you hope will measure up on the battlefield.

Developed and Published by FreeJam Games, Robocraft Infinity has great promise in the way of an Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive. For many years Robocraft has been on PC and it has allowed for many nights of fun bot building and player versus player battles. It has amassed over 13 million players worldwide. Freejam aims to take that higher with this cousin of the original. The controller buttons feel very natural while playing. The crafting system is very straightforward and simple to learn. There are a lot of blocks that you need to learn placement for, and this is one of the most fun aspects of the game. Along with the crafting system, there is a pretty intuitive leveling system. When you level up in the game you get crates full of loot to use to make better bots. You also get daily login boxes as well.

The crafting gun allows you to place not only blocks to build your bot, it also allows you to place the wheels, or propellers, or mech legs, and the sky is literally the limit. There are premade bots ranging from Race Cars to Mech Warrior like bots, you can even have a T-Rex bot. As you level up you get more and more pieces to use in your bots, the weapons get bigger, and you even get things to make your bot fly as well. The crafting gun also allows you to take creative ownership of your bot in the form of paint jobs. The gun allows you to paint the bots anyway you want to.

There are several game modes as well. You have the Create mode, a test mode, and multiplayer modes. Once you get your bot created, head straight for the 5v5 Death Match mode. This is where you will really see how well your creation holds up against other players. The more blocks used in the body of your bot the better, make sure you have enough health blocks put together, otherwise, you may find your bot will fall apart quickly. Make certain any wheels or propellers have plenty of health block attachments too. You don’t want to become immobilized on the battlefield.

Robocraft Infinity does not yet have a release date that I have seen, except for the general 2018 release time. There also is no current price tag, however, I have found that it will not be free to play like the original Robocraft. The game is fun, it is relatively simple to learn, and the graphics are very good while playing on the Xbox One.
