The year 2024 is almost over. It brought the public a variety of games: sequels of classic franchises, remakes of old masterpieces, and new IPs. December may be less saturated with releases, but it will still be able to please the audience with interesting novelties, so today we tell you about the main games of December 2024.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete
- Release Date: December 3
- Platforms: Android, iOS
Released in 2017, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was part of Nintendo’s relatively short-lived foray into the mobile space, alongside games like Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes. Instead of managing a whole damn town, though, you just manage a small camp.
Seven years later, Nintendo is retiring the game as a live service product. Instead of trying to erase every trace of it from the internet, as so many publishers do, Nintendo is releasing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete – and existing players can transfer their data and continue their progress.
Antonblast
- Release date: 3 Dec 2024
- Platforms: Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC
Antonblast may look like Wario Land, but it’s a different beast. The 2D side-scrolling action platformer stars Anton, a very angry demolition worker hell-bent on tearing through the city to get revenge on Satan. Antonblast launches on PC and Nintendo Switch on 3 December, and you can get an early taste of his fury with the free demo.
Delta Force
- Release: 5 December
- Platforms: MS, PS5, XSX
Team Jade’s reimagining of the classic Delta Force Black Hawk Down campaign is incredibly exciting. Now it’s not just FPS veterans of a certain age who will be able to enjoy its groundbreaking story – rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. But it’s not just a single player experience, and from what we’ve seen so far, Delta Force Hawk Ops is taking a leaf out of Battlefield’s book with the inclusion of unique operators. Team Jade has set Q4 2024 as the target for early access, so it shouldn’t be long before you can get in on the action.
Infinity Nikki
- Release date: 5 December
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation, mobile
Genshin Impact and its imitators are a big hit with fans of cozy open-world games. They will soon be joined by Infinity Nikki, a cross-dressing role-playing game in an anime-style fantasy setting.
The protagonist, named Nikki, takes her faithful cat Momo under her arm and sets off to explore Miraland, where a variety of locations, magical creatures, numerous quests and an endless number of activities await her – from fighting bosses to fishing, cooking, crafting and collecting items. Special attention has been paid to the variety of costumes, which will allow the girl to develop her own style and become the most fashionable in the magical world.
Fantasian Neo Dimension
- Release: 5 December
- Platforms: MS, PS5, XSX, Switch
An updated version of the JRPG from Square Enix and veterans of the Final Fantasy series – game designer Hironobu Sakaguchi and composer Nobuo Uematsu. Fantasian was originally released on iOS on Apple Arcade back in 2021, but more than three years later it’s still getting a re-release on other platforms.
The game is set in a fantasy universe whose inhabitants suffer from a mechanical infection called mechteria, which robs people of their emotions and life force. The protagonist of the JRPG is Leo, a young man who has lost his memory and embarks on an interdimensional journey to save humanity.
The main feature of Fantasian is that its world is handmade. It represents scanned images of real dioramas combined with 3D graphics. In total, the developers created more than 150 such locations, full of secrets and unique enemies. The PC and console port of the game will feature improved graphics, English and Japanese voice acting, and other gameplay and technical improvements. If you like, here are the first parts of Final Fantasy, the fantasy setting, and JRPG.
Symphonia
- Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo
- Release date: 5 December
Symphonia is not just a platformer, but a musical platformer, where everything happens to the rhythm of the soundtrack and the protagonist is armed with a violin and a bow, which become a tool for creating music, a means of transport and an object for solving puzzles.
The game sends the player into a world where music is a source of energy. When it falls silent, the protagonist embarks on a journey to gather an orchestra and breathe life back into the universe. The adventure unfolds to the accompaniment of the Scoring Orchestra Paris under the direction of composer Olivier Esman, which is why we wouldn’t recommend playing Symphonia with the sound muted.
Path of Exile 2
- Release: 6 December
- Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX
What began as a story-based expansion to Grinding Gear Games’ acclaimed ARPG is now a standalone sequel. Path of Exile 2 features a six-act campaign set years after the events of the first game, as corruption once again begins to take hold of the ravaged world of Vreaclast. Over the course of the campaign, you’ll traverse over 100 different locations and battle hundreds of monsters and bosses. Path of Exile 2 will also feature brand-new mechanics, including dodge rolls and weapon swapping, which will undoubtedly change the way you approach customization. This free-to-play PC game looks set to be one of the best Diablo-like games around, and we can’t wait.
Marvel Rivals
- Release Date: December 6
- Platforms: PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Too many hero shooters lack a crucial component: actual heroes. Marvel Rivals looks to put the “hero” in “hero shooter.” In the vein of games like Overwatch, Apex Legends, and the doomed PlayStation 5 shooter Concord, Rivals lets you pick from a variety of characters, each with unique abilities.
The options range from household names like Spider-Man, Captain America, Venom, and various X-Men mutants to lesser-known characters like Luna Snow—who first appeared in a 2018 game called Marvel Future Fight. There’s also Jeff the Land Shark, who is a land shark named Jeff. (Obviously.) Even the hilarious Squirrel Girl is here.
Marvel Rivals stands out in part for its third-person perspective, letting you see your favorite super-guy or gal on the screen while you play. After the recent implosion of Concord, our eyes are on Rivals as a game that could put the hero shooter genre on ice—or give it a second wind.
Nikoderiko: The Magical World
- Release Date 6 Dec.
- Platforms: PC
A colorful platformer that resembles a cross between Donkey Kong and Crash Bandicoot.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- Release Date: December 9
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X/S
After taking aim at Nazis in Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, FPS developer Machine Games is now asking you to punch, shoot, and whip Nazis in the shoes of the legendary archaeologist Indiana Jones. Machine Games says this is its biggest and longest game to date, featuring hours of cut-scenes.
This isn’t a shooter but is instead meant to be a first-person action game. There’s some shooting, of course, but if you think about all the ways Indy dispatched his enemies in the movies, then you can imagine the kind of variety Machine Games is promising here. This will be on Xbox and PC to start with, but Microsoft has announced that the game will also hit PlayStation 5 at a later date.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered
- Release Date: December 10
- Platforms: Switch, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5/PS4, Xbox One + Series X/S
Legacy of Kain is an old favorite from the early days of PlayStation; well-received by critics and fans alike, the series never got really huge, but it was big enough to spin-off one of its characters, the resurrected vampire Raziel. After Kain betrays Raziel, an Elder God resurrects Raziel to collect souls for him—and to allow him a chance at revenge.
As Raziel, you could shift between the material and spectral worlds for unique navigation and puzzle-solving gameplay. The games themselves have been left largely intact for this remaster, warts and all, with only the graphics seeing an update. But more than two decades after the last entry, this is sure to be a welcome release for old-school fans.
Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind
- Release Date: December 10
- Platforms: Switch, PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One + Series X/S
Milking millennials of their money through nostalgia is all the rage right now, and one great way to do that is to mash up their favorite childhood show with their favorite childhood video game genre. When the “Power Rangers” were originally on television, side-scrolling beat-em-up games were all the rage. There were arcade games like the Final Fight and The Simpsons and home games like Golden Axe and Splatterhouse.
Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind gives us the best of both worlds. Rita Repulsa has allied with Robo-Rita from the future so that they can prevent the teenagers with attitude from ever meeting in the first place. This game looks to match the aesthetic of those classic games perfectly, and the Power Rangers is a great team to build a brawler around.
The Spirit of the Samurai
- Release Date: December 12
- Platform: PC
Set in a world inspired by Japanese folklore, The Spirit of the Samurai delivers an action-adventure side scrolling platformer experience with unique aesthetics. Players embody a young samurai defending his village against supernatural threats. With a mix of swordplay, spiritual powers, and stunning art that resembles a moving painting, this game is a must-play for action and fantasy enthusiasts.
Fairy Tale 2
- Release Date: December 13
- Platforms: PS5, PS4, PC, Switch
Fans of Fairy Tale will be happy to hear about the release of the second installment of the game. This RPG introduces an original storyline, new characters, and an upgraded turn-based combat system. Featuring high-quality anime visuals and emotionally engaging gameplay, it’s a treat for fans of the franchise and RPG lovers alike.
Alien Rogue: Incursion
- Release Date: December 19
- Platform: PSVR, Quest 3, SteamVR
