The Games of September 2024 Kick Off a Glorious Time for Gamers

There’s no question that some of the biggest blockbuster games have recently been released, with several more in the pipeline before the end of the year. September 2024 begins a glorious time for gamers, with huge titles being released this month. Players can look for titles like Final Fantasy XVI coming to PC, Frostpunk 2, and Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2.

Steam users can add a game to the “Wish List.” For developers, this signals that their project is of interest and can attract more attention—Valve’s service has a list of the most wanted games. After the release of Black Myth Wukong in August, there was a reshuffle in the list of most wanted games. Hollow Knight Silksong took the first place, the release date of which is still unknown, and the second place was taken by Saber Interactive’s novelty, which will be released in a few days. The title was loved by the public, which led to a sequel called Astro Bot. It is still a declaration of love for PlayStation consoles and the virtual worlds created thanks to Sony. My personal favorite from the whole list – Satisfactory is a project from the authors of the famous Goat Simulator and Sanctum, which exploits the well-worn theme of colonization. You take on the role of an employee of the company FICSIT Incorporated, which is experiencing bad financial times and is therefore counting on the success of the planned mission to explore an unknown planet.

The gameplay involves several activities at once. First of all, you need to land on the surface and analyze the situation. Next, send to search for valuable resources and “communicate,” so to speak, with representatives of the local life form, who clearly do not intend to give you a warm welcome. And finally, we need to build a huge factory, which will provide you with a stable income in the future. And I will say personally from personal experience – the game is worth your attention and attracted me, not on a joke. So I say – if you like any construction simulators, this game is definitely for you.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is an upcoming remaster of the popular 2012 zombie action game developed and published by Dragami Games. The remaster features improved graphics, controls, and performance. The game supports 4K resolution and 60 FPS on new consoles and PC (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions support 1080p and 30 FPS). Updated combat mechanics, including the ability to use the Chainsaw Blaster with auto aim and fire and increased ammo.

New chainsaws have been added to the game with unique abilities, such as the Extreme Chainsaw, which attracts zombies to Juliette. The game’s soundtrack was reworked due to licensing restrictions and now features original compositions composed by contemporary Japanese musicians. The game’s protagonist, Juliet Starling, will once again battle hordes of zombies using her unique combination of chainsaw and martial arts skills. New and returning characters include Oswald, Juliette’s younger sisters, and her teacher Junji Moriyawa, adding variety to the story and gameplay.

Hollowbody

Hollowbody is a techno-noir survival horror game developed by independent studio Headware Games. In this project, players are immersed in a dark and ruined world of the near future, which resembles a hybrid of classic games such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil, with visual elements inspired by Cyberpunk 2077.

The game takes place in an abandoned British city surrounded by an exclusion zone, where the protagonist named Mika, a black-marketeer, is searching for her missing partner. Players will have to solve logic puzzles, manage limited resources and fight for survival to get out of the danger zone. Hollowbody features an intense atmosphere and tense gameplay that creates a true sense of horror.

Looking at Selfloss, which is full of different locations, it’s hard to believe that the game was developed by just one person, representing only the Kazakh studio Goodwin Games. It is an adventure story in which the player assumes the role of an old wizard, Kazimir, and travels through lands inspired by Slavic and Icelandic folklore. The hero is searching for a ritual that will help him heal a mental trauma, but he also has to overcome a mysterious disease that has swept the world. Selfloss is a game for those moments when you want to indulge in melancholy and play something leisurely and slightly dark.

Edge of Sanity

Edge of Sanity is a psychological survival horror game set in the harsh Alaskan wilderness. Funko Fusion

Players will be able to immerse themselves in unique worlds and interact with their favorite Funko Pop-inspired characters.

In Funko Fusion, players will enjoy humor and original storylines as they explore over 20 different franchises. The game features both a single-player mode and multiplayer online co-op. Pre-orders include The Walking Dead Bonus Pack, which adds two additional characters, Rick Grimes and Michonne Hawthorne, as well as alternate costumes for them.

Dune: Spice Wars

A real-time strategy game with 4X elements based on Frank Herbert’s books. The game has been released in Early Access. Dune: Spice Wars is a mix of RTS and 4X? games. The game features pause and speed control modes, territory exploration, territory control, economic elements, battles, politics, and espionage. Each house can construct buildings that are specific to that house. Maps are procedurally generated before a match begins.  The Harkonnen, Atreides, and Freemen factions were available in Early Access at launch. Houses from previous games will not be present in the game unless they were in the books. For example, House Odos was in Dune 2, it is in the Dune Encyclopedia, but it was never in the books. Multiplayer will be added later, closer to the release of the game.

Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy XVI is a game in the legendary RPG series from Square Enix, released on June 22, 2023. The game takes place in Valistea, divided into several kingdoms, each of which controls one of the crystals that provide magical power. The protagonist, Clive Rosefield, is trying to protect his younger brother Joshua, but events take an unexpected turn, which leads Clive on the path of revenge and fight against powerful opponents. The game has a dark atmosphere that explores betrayal, political intrigue, and family ties. The combat system in Final Fantasy XVI is designed in an action RPG style, offering fast-paced battles with elements reminiscent of Devil May Cry. One of the key features of the game is the use of Eikons, powerful creatures that embody the powers of crystals. These Eikons can both fight on Clive’s side and act as his enemies. Graphically, the game is executed at a high level, showing detailed landscapes and spectacular battle scenes. The developers also paid attention to the music, which was written by composer Masayoshi Soken and was highly praised for its epic nature and emotional depth. Final Fantasy XVI received positive reviews for its mature storyline, innovative combat system, and visuals, making it one of the year’s most anticipated games.

The Plucky Squire

God of War Ragnarok

The long-awaited sequel to the adventures of a grumpy father and his uncooperative son. In many ways repeats the original 2018, developing some ideas or “polishing” what already worked well. And that means, according to the prophecies, that Ragnarok is about to begin. Kratos and his teenage son Atreus begin a journey through the Nine Worlds to find a way to prevent Ragnarok. They must also figure out what to do about the identity of Atreus, who is actually Loki. Their journey will lead father and son to Thor, the Scandinavian god of war, who was previously thought to be dead. Their conflict will involve Thor, who is seeking revenge for the deaths of his half-brother Baldur and his two sons, Modi and Magni. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Zoochosis is an upcoming indie horror simulation game developed by Clapperheads Studios. In this game you play as Paul, a night zookeeper who is faced with an unexpected threat: the animals in the zoo are beginning to mutate under the influence of an unknown parasite. Your task is to identify the infected animals, create a vaccine and try to cure them before the mutation spreads to the rest of the animals. Gameplay includes creating vaccines, caring for animals, and making decisions that affect the development of the story and possible endings of the game. A unique feature of the game is the caretaker’s perspective using a bodycam, which adds even more suspense and immersion to the horror atmosphere.
