2K and Firaxis presented a new video for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Rise and Fall dedicated to the Cree and their leader Poundmaker. The team has also put forth a large blog post that dives into the story behind this faction.
Poundmaker was a highly skilled bison caller – a man who drew bison into pounds – and greatly respected among his people. He was also recognized as an outstanding orator and went on to become a great leader.
His commitment to a lasting, just peace between the Cree and the government was born of foresight and dignity. During his life he had served as a personal agent of peace to end war between First Nations. His legacy is now honored among both the Cree and Canadians today.
The Cree’s unique ability is “Nihithaw” – they receive their first Trade Route when they research Pottery. The first time a Trader moves into an unclaimed tile within 3 tiles of a Cree city, that tile is claimed.
The Cree’s unique improvement is the Mekewap. This provides Housing and Production, as well as Gold when adjacent to a Luxury Resource, and Food when adjacent to Bonus Resources.
Their unique unit is the Okihtcitaw, which is a reconnaissance unit that replaces the Scout, but receives a free promotion and has additional Combat Strength.
From the video description:
