Larian Studios and co-developer Logic Artists have announced that Divinity: Fallen Heroes is now dead in the water for the time being. The studios have parted ways and each is now focused on their own internal projects. For Larian, this means the keenly-anticipated Baldur’s Gate 3. Logic Artists, meanwhile, will be focusing on its Expeditions series.
While not going into further detail, Larian indicated that Fallen Heroes would “need far greater development time and resources than are available now to bring it to fruition in a fun and sustainable way”.

This is a big disappointment to fans of the Divinity series as the game was targeting a November 2019 release date. Canceling it less than a month before launch was certainly unexpected.
There is a golden lining in that Larian also said that the delay is “an unspecified period of time” and not that it is dead and gone for good. Let’s hope that, once the two companies have launched their next games, they’ll return to Fallen Heroes.
