Developer Blizzard Entertainment unexpectedly announced animated mini-series for hero shooter Overwatch. Titled Genesis, it will be focusing on the conflict between the organics and the Omnics. The minute-long teaser lets viewers catch a glimpse of some familiar faces in action, including much younger versions of Torbjörn and Reinhardt.
Could the story be related to Dr. Mina Liao and her creation of Echo? Stay tuned to find out! The first episode out of three is scheduled to premiere on July 6th at 9 AM PT on the official Youtube channel.
The conflict between organics and Omnics (also known as the Omnic Crisis) as well as the threat of the Null Sector has been one of the main storylines of Overwatch for years. It affected the lives of many playable characters as well as entire organizations at once. For an example of one such affected life – as well as a participant of the upcoming mini-series – take Reinhardt. Much like humans, Omnics are not united in their outlook on organic life. There are peacemakers such as Zenyatta and Mondatta, and there are militant groups with the prime one being Null Sector led by Ramattra.
