It has finally happened. All of these years after Dragon’s Dogma has launched and we finally have news of Dragon’s Dogma II. It is currently being developed using Capcom’s RE ENGINE, the same one used for Resident Evil.
We thought we were only getting a news piece about how Dragon’s Dogma was turning ten years old, and then boom, it happened. The announcement came from Hideaki Itsuno, Dragon’s Dogma’s director. He was discussing monster creation, how the combat system works, and more. What people don’t know is how long Itsuno wanted to make Dragon’s Dogma. He had to complete the production of Devil May Cry 2, 3, and 4 before finally being able to move on to a passion project.
There are several aspects of Dragon’s Dogma that sets it apart from other RPGs. The pawn system, for one. The ability to use NPCs as helpers or, to use other characters as your pawn to help with battles helps in so many ways. It helps to keep it a single-player game but still offers assistance from other characters. Everything else was an added bonus in that title.
Now that it has been ten years Itsuno decided to give the fans an update while he reminisced about Dragon’s Dogma’s beginnings. Everyone will be happy to know that he is joined by veterans Daigo Ikeno and Kenichi Suzuki as they create the sequel to a brilliant piece of game making.
