Gearbox has sent word that they have carefully culled their stable of great PC titles to conjure up some thrills and chills for Halloween. Players looking to set the mood for the spooky season will want to check out Remnant II and Have a Nice Death for plenty of “terrifying (and not so terrifying!) fun.” Let’s take a look.
Remnant II
Gunfire Games developed this critically acclaimed ARPG that offers players third-person shooter action. As the sequel to the original title, players will find themselves in unfamiliar, yet familiar, territory. “It plunges players deeper into a devastated world requiring a mix of methodical and frenetic ranged and melee combat against cunning enemies and punishing boss battles. Enter the fray as a lone wolf or even the odds by teaming up with two friends to overcome daunting challenges. Each time players start a new playthrough of REMNANT II they will be brought into a new world built from a wide pool of locations, enemies, NPCs, bosses, and weapons. Fans of 2D action roguelike games will love Have a Nice Death with its adorably quirky art style and tricky gameplay. “Gamers will assume the role of Death, Founder and CEO of Death Incorporated, the giant underworld organization responsible for processing souls in the afterlife. As the company’s supreme leader, they will explore the darkly charming, procedurally generated departments of the corporation’s headquarters to round up and rehabilitate rogue employees who have been ignoring company protocol and snatching up far too many souls on Earth. Getting the department bosses—also known as Sorrows—and their minions under control, however, is a difficult task and will require multiple runs to complete. Luckily, players will have an arsenal of weapons, spells, and special skills on hand to get the job done.”
