Achimostawinan Games is developing one of the most interesting-sounding games we’ve heard of in a long time. The company has announced Hill Agency: PURITYdecay, “an indigenous cybernoir detective game” that recently took home top honors in the Ubisoft Toronto Indie Series. It was also featured during the recent Future of Play Direct during Summer Game Fest 2022. The game is targeting an August 31, 2022 release date for Windows PCs.
According to press information, the game is a “narrative-driven, exploration-heavy detective game” that will challenge players by what it doesn’t reveal. There is no hand-holding, no quest tracker, and no hint as to whether or not the player is progressing along the right track. Players will be required to “sharpen their senses and follow their instincts”. Exploration will be key to uncovering clues, interviewing witnesses, devising a suspect pool, analyzing the findings, and making accusations.
Your story begins on The Ground, in the neon-lit city of Akâmaskiy, where the urban skyline is peppered with brightly colored publicity in Cree language. You will step into the shoes of Meygeen Hill, a tracker by family trade, but detective by choice. Follow her as she unravels the many mysteries of her Indigenous metropolis and unearths the secret threads that link The Risen City and Akâmaskiy. Be wary, however, when a mysterious dame from the upper districts comes knocking on your door with a seemingly straightforward case, your life will change forever.
Key features:
- A unique take on Indigenous futurism
- Deeply involved narrative
- Unguided approach to detective work
- Memorable cybernoir aesthetic with a soundtrack to match
