Believe it or not, Microsoft Flight Simulator is turning 40 years old! The team is ready to pull out all the stops and will release the Anniversary Update on November 11, 2022. The update will release as a free content addition for Xbox Game Pass subscribers and to everyone who already owns a copy of the game. It is currently available for PC via Steam and Windows 10/11, and for Xbox Series X/S.

For the first time, helicopters and gliders will be added. This is in response to community requests to add them. In addition, players will also find several aircraft added. These include the 1904 Wright Flyer, the Curtiss JN-4 Jenny from 1915, the Grumman G-21 A Goose, and the Hughes H-4 Hercules, aka the Spruce Goose. There will be new airports, missions, and much more. The team has plans to reveal more about the Anniversary Update over the coming weeks and months.

As part of the announcement for the 40th Anniversary Edition, the development team also revealed City Update 01. The latest update to MFS is already live with five new German cities: Dortmund, Hanover, Dusseldorf, Bonn, and Cologne. Al in all, there is a lot to explore.
