Find out who could fire first as arena shooter Star Wars: Hunters reveals new characters and confirms the return of a fan favorite match mode.

After an initial announcement back in 2021 and a soft launch for testing, Star Wars: Hunters just announced some new characters ahead of its global release later this year as well as announcing a new game mode that many fans of the Star Wars franchise might be familiar with. Zynga and LucasArts revealed that the free to play title will include an additional tech and medic.

Skora, the first reveal, is a Rodian cartel doctor who houses a medkit that is more than just a bandage. It will, of course, allow players controlling Skora to heal allies in the arena but will provide an avenue to do damage too. The other new addition to this roster of characters is Sprocket. A Mon Calamari revels in all things electronic and controls an array of versatile bots, providing plenty of different support depending on the situation. These two new characters fall neatly into the title’s support structure and fill out the current cast of nine characters. We will likely see more additions before Star Wars: Hunters arrives on mobile and Nintendo Switch but in the meantime, we’re much more excited by the inclusion of Hutball.

For anybody versed in Star Ware: The Old Republic, the news that Hutball is to appear in Star Wars: hunters might be a reason to pick up a blaster and play. The game mode first made an epic entrance onto screens back in 2011 and was easily my own favorite part of early SWOTR. This unique mix of handball and high energy explosive pits two teams of players against each other in an effort to move a ball across a trap infested arena and score goals. There’s also the added benefit of energy weapons on all sides. This combative content will undergo a reimagining for the mobile and Switch screens, moving to a 4 vs 4 format, rather than the SWTOR 8vs 8 mode. I’m just hoping it’s as much fun to play here as in SWTOR.
