The Prime Video Youtube channel has been updated with the official trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Amazon’s upcoming epic fantasy series that welcomes watchers to discover the legend that forged the rings on September 2nd.
The events of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (and the movie trilogies of the same name), and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.
While the events of the series take place in a time of a relative peace, Sauron’s influence over the fate of the Middle-Earth is slowly growing and preparing to plunge the world into conflict. The first season of the TV series consists of 8 episodes, 2 of which will be released on September 2nd. The first episode is titled Shadow of the Past and is directed by J.A. Bayona.
