Video games have made a major breakthrough in the entertainment industry. There are many thoughts when it comes to the best games and we decided to present the best games of three decades – the nineties, zero, and tenths. We remembered everything from Prince of Persia and Postal to GTA V and World of Tanks. Let’s have a look at them thoroughly.
The Witcher 3
The gripping story of Geralt of Rivia still wins the hearts of a lot of people. While CD Projekt RED is trying to revive its reputation after the failure of Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher is still being played. It is loved not only for the emotional stories of the characters but also for the comprehensive study of the smallest details – even 7 years after the release, new Easter eggs are found in it.
Every little detail in The Witcher 3 is worth your attention. Quests, visual side, storytelling – this is a game where you can immediately see that developers put a lot of effort into it. In addition, there are mods that you can download after playing the main game.
Inside the game, there is another mini-game called Gwent. The latter managed to become one of the best mini-games. It is a little similar to gambling games that you will play on different mobile casino platforms. There are various guides on how to play Gwent and each of them is worth your attention.
GTA V
The best GTA ever came out 8 years ago, setting the highest standard for any open-world shooter. In the world of GTA, everyone will find a task to their liking: someone will get a plot blockbuster, and someone will spend a dozen hours doing yoga, robbing banks, or trading on the in-game stock exchange (by the way, you can arrange bribery and blackmail for maximum benefit). And with multiplayer, it became possible to create your own gang and have fun with friends.
GTA V can be played with different characters and they all have different stories. The game is exciting and Rockstar once again proves that it can create high-quality games.
GTA San Andreas
It became the first GTA for many of us and surprised the adventures of a simple guy CJ among criminals, gangsters, and corrupt cops. San Andreas was a really phenomenal game when it comes to open-world games. It was released in a period when the video game industry was still in the development process and because of its gameplay, story, and unique features, San Andreas became a cult classic for a lot of gamers.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Cowboy hats, gunfights, train robberies, and hot air ballooning are cool, but have you tried two hours of tracking down the legendary pronghorn or cougar? The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is harsh, cruel, and very realistic, so you want to stay in it longer. And the history of the gang with intrigues, quarrels and betrayals does not let you get bored when you are distracted from peaceful fishing.
In the game, players can accomplish side quests in addition to the main storyline. This is an interesting feature because side quests are no less interesting than the main ones. You can fight bandits, spare prisoners, or simply catch outlaws.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
Despite the fact that Skyrim has one plot for all players, the structure of the world allows you to play a variety of roles. Skyrim is loved for freedom – at any moment you can break away from the main plot and save the world from another threat. At the same time, the game will not force the player to return to the main missions until he wants to. Over 30 million players and over 30 million unique stories – this is what makes Skyrim still one of the best RPG games.
Half-Life 2
The revolution in the gaming industry looks exactly like this. Facial animations, physics, level design, and the gravity gun were all breakthroughs in 2004 – and the well-thought-out character story was an equally satisfying addition.
After the release of Half-Life 2, a lot of avid gamers have been waiting for the next part. Still, it has not happened yet, but the game’s release will certainly be a breathtaking experience.
Heroes of Might & Magic III
One of the best (if not the best) turn-based strategy games of all time, and a joy to play even after 22 years. The combination of RTS and RPG created endless replay value, and you won’t recognize all the chips even after a hundred hours of playing – you need to dive into it and study it. Multiplayer pleases even more, and if you have an assiduous friend, the battles with him will turn out to be legendary.
Mafia 2
Mafia II has a great storyline – rough, brutal, realistic, with great storytelling. It is impossible to tear yourself away from the mafia showdown in the large-scale Empire Bay – from the first hour to “Joe was not included in the deal”, the game is played in one breath.
The Mafia franchise is known for its unique storytelling. While the graphics may not be the best of all, the storytelling indeed makes up for other details.
Half-Life
Valve knows how to turn the industry over with new games – and it all started with Half-Life. Valve reworked the Quake engine to create it, and after its release, multiplayer games began to be made based on this engine – Counter-Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat, and others. But Half-Life itself is valued for a fairly adequate reaction of artificial intelligence to the player’s actions, puzzles for completing quests, and a dark, impressive storyline.
GTA IV
The fourth part of the Grand Theft Auto series came out not perfect, but a lot of effort was put into its creation. An overwhelming amount of lovingly made small details, Easter eggs, and references to pop culture and other games in the series is located in a huge city – and you are unlikely to notice them immediately.
