During yesterday’s X019 event, World’s Edge revealed some brand new footage from Age of Empires IV. The studio has been very quiet since the game was announced all the way back in 2017. However, today’s trailer brings the game back to our collective minds.
Studio lead Shannon Loftis said, “We’ve been hard at work on the game and we’re excited to share some of it with the world today. As part of Inside Xbox, live from X019 in London, we revealed a first look at the game with an all-new trailer. We hope we’ve given you enough to discuss and theorize! As the footage said, we’re pre-Alpha. So while we’ve come a long way, we will continue to put in our best work to ensure it lives up to the Age of Empires name.”
World’s Edge also revealed that Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is now available. The team is pleased with the work it’s done on the game in order to make it look and sound “like it belongs in 2019”. Developers have spent time with the community to make sure that the most-loved features remained and that areas of improvement were targeted. There’s even some brand new content called “The Last Khans” for players to explore.
Support for AoE:II – DE won’t end with launch day. The team has robust plans for quality of life and balance improvements, new game modes, new missions, advanced tutorials, and “even more that we’re not ready to share just yet”.
