Diablo Immortal – The Journey to PC

Developer Blizzard Entertainment published a new blog post on the official site detailing the making of Diablo Immortal for PC. The game’s arrival on the platform came as a surprise announcement alongside the release date reveal. The game will be welcoming players back to Hell on June 2, 2022.

Diablo Immortal will feature cross-play and cross-save progression across mobile and PC. The team went an extra mile so that players could slay monsters and demons from the comfort of their home chairs. Developers have meticulously translated the finger tapping and swiping controls from mobile into the age-old mouse and keyboard.  So if you wanted to see the good old left-click to move and attack while using keys for abilities and potions – all of that is in.

For those looking for something new, the team also including WASD directional controls as an additional movement tool. The reasoning behind this feature was that it felt like an intuitive way to move your character around. Additionally, moving while attacking simultaneously, such as with certain charged abilities, is native to the game on mobile and the developers wanted PC players to be able to experience this as well. The game also features controller support.

Other features that went through iterative process include HUD and its scaling, menu interfaces, chat experience and more. Check out the original blog post to learn more.

“The decision to develop Diablo Immortal for PC was one that the team went back and forth on for a large part of the development process. On one hand, we felt that we wouldn’t be doing the title justice by releasing a game originally designed for mobile on PC; on the other hand, we wanted to make sure the game reached as many players as possible—especially our most dedicated PC fans. In the end, the deciding factor was that we knew many of you would attempt to play this game through an emulator, thus leading us towards building a better experience.”
