The very first developer diary for King’s Bounty II is now out in the wild! It takes a look at some of the game’s RPG elements including its branching narrative options and open-world exploration. This is the first of a trio of developer diaries that will take a look at “three core aspects” of the game including exploration, hero management, and tactical combat.
First up, players will find a new branching narrative added to the core RPG elements already present in the series. “The developer team says that players can expect roughly one-third of the experience to combat with exploration, puzzles, and new characters expanding greatly on the world introduced in past installments of this series.”
Characters will developer along four key “ideals”: Order, Power, Finesse, and Anarchy. As players progress through the game, they will be able to apply talent points into each of these. Each idea grants different bonuses so the system allows players to experience the game that best suits their playstyle.
As players move through the game completing quests, their choices and quest outcomes will influence how they are seen by the world around them. “A character’s disposition will directly affect how they are perceived by the people of the world of Antara leading to different outcomes throughout the entirety of the game.”
As for gameplay, fans can expect combat that “stays true to past games”, though there are new elements and enhanced elements to bring things to the modern age of gaming. This includes hex-based battles playing out on a 3D battlefield.
Look for KB2 in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
