Nine Dots Studio has announced that Outward: Definitive Edition is headed to Nintendo Switch in 2024. When it is released for the handheld console, it will culminate months of collaboration between the original developers and Sneaky Box, the developer brought in to lead the effort to port the game to Switch. The Definitive Edition includes the base game and its two DLCs: Three Brothers and Soroboreans.
“Getting Outward onto the Switch was always a dream for us,” said Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, CEO and creative director of Nine Dots Studio. “I’ll be quite honest, I had my doubts that a Switch version was even possible, but we did it.”
Outward is an RPG set in the world of Aurai, where players take on the role of an ordinary adventurer. As they travel through the game, players will defend themselves against threatening creatures and braving hazardous environmental conditions. The game also features light survival elements that require players to stay healthy and hydrated. The game features cities and hidden dungeons crawling with enemies.
