Overwatch 2 – Developer Update from Aaron Keller

Overwatch 2 - Developer Update from Aaron Kepler

Developer Blizzard Entertainment has taken to the official site of hero shooter Overwatch 2 with an update from Aaron Keller. The article takes a look at some topics that have come up in the community over the course of OW2 Season 2 such as the new Ranked mode, balance and more.

The team admitted that the new Ranked mode suffered from poor comprehension: it was unclear how players’ real rank translated into their skill levels, there were difficulties forming groups with friends and more. Blizzard has plans to implement some changes in Season 3 and quite a few more in Season 4 aimed at creating more clarity in the system. More details on both short-term changes and long-term solutions will be shared soon.

Additionally, Season 3 will bring changes to the pace at which players earn items after the company has received feedback about the playerbase not feeling that the game is rewarding enough.

“Balance frequency is a big topic. Bug fixes to hot fixing should enable us to address balance faster and would have enabled us to tune Hog earlier in S2. We’re still planning an initial and midseason patch each season, but now have the full ability to fill in between those as necessary.”

As a part of the tuning pass, the devs will be lowering the ult refund when swapping heroes to 25%. One-shots and frustrating Hero mechanics are being discussed and the player feedback and welcome. Stay tuned to find out more once the Overwatch 2 team is ready to share.
