Developer Blizzard Entertainment has taken to the official site of hero shooter Overwatch 2 to reveal that Overwatch World Cup is returning for 2023, and the competition will be bigger than ever. The team promises new game, new players, and new ways of spotlighting your country and region on a global scale.

In January, Blizzard will announce the 36 countries and regions competing in the Cup and open up the committee application, with the candidates being vetted by Blizzard. In February, the company will hold World Cup Trials to earn a guaranteed spot in the Country and Regional Team Tryouts as well as announce the Competition Committees.
Players will still be able to sign up for regular tryouts taking place in March. Regular tryouts will have a Competitive Rank requirement of Diamond and above, so aspiring players should start climbing the ladder now!
Meanwhile, though January 4th the game is celebrating the Winter Wonderland with seasonal activities such as Freeze Thaw elimination, Yeti Hunter, Snowball Deathmatch, and Mei’s Snowball Offensive.
