PUBG – Dev Letter On Recent Feedback & Development Priority

dev letter

The team working on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has published a new Dev Letter to address where the development has fallen short and share their list of top priorities. Based on the player feedback, the biggest issues deserving of the dev attention are performance, server-side optimization and cheating.

The developers have seen a big increase in complaints about the game’s performance such as unpredictable FPS drops, graphical stuttering and so on. There will be some simple fixes to improve the overall game performance such as the way lighting effects are processed. The team is planning to push updates to live servers whenever fixes are ready, instead of simply waiting for major patches.

Client-side updates include the way the game handles the movements of unseen opponents, character model rendering, optimization of parachute animations, skydiving and movement animations and much more. Players can also look forward to vehicle optimization, loading optimization and other updates.

You can find the rest of the updates, including the server-side optimization and cheating-related plans, in the full text of the dev letter on the game’s Steam page.

Players have rightfully called us out for failing to address complaints about performance, and recently we haven’t done the best job of communicating about the changes we’re making to the game. Today we want to change that by talking in-depth about the things we’re prioritizing.
