This weeks Nintendo Downloads includes Sega’s classic action JRPG “Shining Resonance Refrain” and the NeoGeo inspired 2D pixel fighter “Pocket Rumble”.
Shining Resonance Refrain
While searching through this summer’s Steam sale, this gem caught my eye. A bit of research revealed this to be a previously Japanese only release on the PlayStation 3. Shining Resonance Refrain is the latest entry in Sega’s shining series. It will be released on Switch July 10th. You can also pick it up on Xbox, Steam, and PlayStation.
Play as Yuma Ilvern and stop the Empire from exploiting the power of the ancient dragons, including the soul of the Shining Dragon within you. With the help of your friends, realize your destiny, save Astoria, and unleash the strength you’ve always had locked away.
Yuma is a timid young man with the power to transform into a dragon. Yuma and his band of friends fight against Imperial domination and the exploitation of dragons. I’m not sure why he’s so timid with dragon powers, but the game sounds like a lot of fun from the description and game play videos I found searching around. This new edition includes two character options that were previously unplayable in the previous version. Check out our impression of Shining Resonance Refrain.
And More
Pocket Rumble is a 2D beat’em-up inspired by the NeoGeo era of fighter games. It promises fast simple game play and quality multiplayer with robust netcode. You can pick it up on the Switch.
A few other deals, on the massive list of Nintendo sales, caught my eye. There is The Coma: Recut, a Korean survival horror in an adventure narrative. Where are My Friends? is a quirky platforming puzzler with attractive stylized art. The classic mind bending puzzler The Bridge is only $2.99 right now. And finally, there is Die For Valhalla, satisfying your Viking-themed beat’em-up needs. Well, not finally. There is a lot more to choose from on Nintendo’s deal page. Head on over and check them out and let us know any treasures you’ve unearthed.
