Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is out now, bringing unique genre twist to PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch.
This incredible mix of musical show and RPG adventure puts players on stage with a cast of gods. This fantasy world finds protagonist Grace granted the power of a Muse and tasked with unravelling her predecessor’s death. Developed by Australian studio Summerfall Studios and brought to screens by Humble Games, this animated RPG is a compelling presence thanks to its glorious aesthetic and wonderful score.
While Grace races against time to uncover a deadly mystery and save herself from the wrath of some very recognizable deities, players will experience a very different type of journey. Rather than a winding story with musical interludes, this escapade directly influences the outcome of these numbe5s. Musical intermissions don’t just influence the story, players must pick their way through a branching orchestration. Pick one option and Grace may turn it up to 11. Choose another and a song will sound different. The outcome might be imperative to a character’s reaction. Austin Wintory, of Journey and Banner Saga fame, details this mechanic in a recent preview.
Austin isn’t the only musical talent involved. Tripod (musicians Scott Edgar, Steven Gates, and Simon Hall) and Eurovision Australia’s own Montaigne (Jess Cerro) are all part of this ensemble cast. It’s up to you how to use them. A distinctly different way to play comes to town today and you can find out more about Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical on the Humble Games website now.
