X8 Closed Beta Test Is Your Second Chance to Blast Into VR

Multiplayer hero shooter X8 is getting a second closed test, and VR enthusiasts can jump in to blow away opponents.

Fancy a bit of Overwatch in a more immersive format, then this might be the opportunity you’re waiting for. Thirdverse, Co., Ltd, has put out a call for fans of hero shooters to boot up their PCVR and Quest 2 headset and sign in to try out X8. This upcoming hero shooter is still in development, but the team behind the title are out for feedback and sign-ups are open now.

X8 is a 5v5 immersive action shooter, taking plenty of cues from the likes of Paladins but cramming this new world into a VR headset. Players wield a unique video game character, ripped form their original IP and forced to face off against each other in an archaic legacy version of their shared past. This unexpected origin means that outlandish ideas and knowing nods to existing tropes are likely to feature throughout the game. Players jumping into the closed test will find themselves wielding a variety of these distinct heroes, battling alongside and against each other using interactive abilities and unique weapons. The upcoming testing periods will feature a familiar run and gun 5v5 scenario. To get into closed testing you’ll need a compatible headset to run SteamVR or the Meta portals, and a. invite.
